These are some wonky bobble head LEGO puppets I built of the iconic grunge band Nirvana, originally for a contest on the official LEGO website.

In October 2021 the company held a contest to encourage builders to make guitar-related creations and vignettes to promote the new Fender Stratocaster LEGO model. The winner would receive a a real guitar, so naturally I got to work and created the Kurt Cobain puppet with a left-handed Fender guitar. Before the contest ended, I completed Krist Novoselic, but was nearing too close to the deadline, so I simply submitted a photo of Kurt by himself as my entry, rather than the entire band.

My entry was rejected due to apparently using “inappropriate materials” in my design, despite how in my initial photo I deliberately didn’t include a cigarette in Kurt’s mouth. Now that I was unable to win the guitar, I stubbornly stopped working on this project until 2022 when I completed Dave Grohl and the remaining musical instruments.
