After experimenting with various design methods for mass-producing minifigure paintings throughout 2023-2024, I eventually began using an airbrush with my custom stencil layers for a more streamlined approach that I can do indoors. In early 2025 I moved up to making large 16”x16” canvas prints with my stencils and acrylic paint pour backgrounds. I made a few paintings in this exact method and donated them to John Beck Elementary School in April 2025 where I was a guest speaker regarding my LEGO creations and paintings.

For this specific painting – Fire Orange – I created an acrylic paint pour with neon orange, neon yellow, and white. After it dried I placed individual stencils of the LEGO bricks and used purple and magenta paint with my airbrush. After that dried, I added a stencil layer of white primer and painted by hand, followed by a stencil layer for neon yellow. Next I added a stencil airbrush layer for neon orange, and finally a stencil airbrush layer for black. In subsequent paintings in this series I used a wide-spray airbrush for both the white and yellow layers.

This design was a good trial and error run, so I plan on making newer designs like this on large canvases with the multi-layered stencils.
